India GeographyIndia, the colorful country is endowed with great diversity, thanks to its vivid geography. Covering over 3.28 million sq. kilometers of area, this world's seventh largest nation is blessed with diverse geographic wonders. This wonderful geography is divided into three major regions. First one comprises the rugged Himalayas forming the crown lining of the India. The second region, Indo Genetic Plains contributes to the fertility of the country. The third feature of the tapering peninsular plateau lined by three seas lends a tropical feel to the region. The nation is a home to 28 states, each having a different geographical identity. Some are overshadowed by the mighty mountains, some are lined by the surrounding seas, some portray the productivity of the country through its fertile farms, some are dry and deserted hot lands, etc. Many rivers like the Ganges and Brahmaputra find their source in India and contribute to the green wealth of the country. India with this rich and vivid geography, offers unique contrasts to the tourists thronging from various parts of the world. The wettest land of Cherrapunji and the driest regions of Rajasthan and Ladakh belong to India. Jammu and Kashmir on the top of India is often referred to as a Heaven on earth, whereas the bottom of this country, Kerala is termed as God's own country. Goa on the western side is a chill out zone for its Arabian Sea beaches whereas towards the east side is the intelligentsia's flourishing heaven of West Bengal. On one hand sitting on The Ghats of Varanasi is a spiritual existence, and on the other, the Agra's Taj Mahal is a poetry carved on the marble. Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh are known more for countryside farms empowering the nation with plentiful food reserves. Offering something for everyone, India is a haven for adventure lovers as well. River-rafting at Rishikesh, Scuba diving and Snorkelling at Lakshadweep, Sail surfs at Goa, Paragliding at Himalayas and Wildlife Safari bring back the excitement of exploring nature in its crude form. Such abundance of diversity in geography undoubtedly makes India a perfect tourist spot. ![]() |
